FedEx SmartPost

by Dan Perry on January 7, 2010

Not sure why it is called SmartPost – has to be the dumbest, slowest, and most painful way to have something shipped.  Carrier pigeons could get it there quicker.  On December 29th I ordered some reef supplies from Drs. Foster and Smith.  It’s still not here.  The site claims 4-7 days for shipping on ground orders.  The package sat in one “sortation” center from December 30th until January 6th.

Needless to say – that’s the last time I will use SmartPost.  Why not ship it Priority Mail.  Evidently the idea behind SmartPost is to FedEx the package to your nearest post office then allow them to take it the last mile.  The way it works though is that your package sits in sortation centers for a week at a time.
