I recently decided to setup a saltwater tank at home. I have had a freshwater tank going now for about 2 years with crazy success. Saltwater has been a rough start for me. Everything is different it seems. With my freshwater tank I have a huge canister filter sitting in the stand that virtually gurantees the water stays clean. In saltwater most people allow things like live rock and live sand to take care of the filtration. The tank is going well now, it is a 25 gallon cube. I have about 32 lbs of live rock in it as well as about 4 inches of sand (40 lbs). As for as stock I currently have one tank raised clown, a cleaner shrimp, and a scooter blenny.

Could the Nokia N97 be my next phone?
Is it a good enough phone to cause me to give up my beloved Blackberry?

From the press release:
Nokia today unveiled the Nokia N97, the world’s most advanced mobile computer, which will transform the way people connect to the Internet and to each other. Designed for the needs of Internet-savvy consumers, the Nokia N97 combines a large 3.5″ touch display with a full QWERTY keyboard, providing an ‘always open’ window to favorite social networking sites and Internet destinations. Nokia’s flagship Nseries device introduces leading technology - including multiple sensors, memory, processing power and connection speeds - for people to create a personal Internet and share their ’social location.’

Sounds really cool. DVD video capture and a 5 mega-pixel camera. It also looks to have a virtual keyboard (on screen) as well as a physical QWERTY keyboard. The phone should be out in the first-half of 2009.

A while back I updated an old Linksys router with the fancy pants Tomato Firmware. All has been well over the last 6 weeks. No need to reboot, everything has worked out great. The biggest slice of traffic the router sees is VPN, VOIP, and basic web browsing. We are not big downloaders, freepers, frappers, or anything else (get your mind out of the gutter). Including Tivos, computers, printers, NAS, and a few other wifi enabled devices - our home network can see on average of 10 networked devices. It has worked great with segregating out the VOIP traffic (giving it priority).

If anything changes I will update the site, but for now Tomato on a WRT54G router is working great.

Prelude: This is more of a rant than anything else . . . thanks for listening.

So “The Holidays” are officially here. Thanksgiving came and went in a furry of activity. All I am left with is memories of a turkey that was. Soon Christmas will be upon us, gifts will be given, come January it will all be a distant memory. It’s the time of year when families attempt to get along with one another. Fake hope is trotted around. Many forgot the reason of Thanksgiving and Christmas. How often do we really slow down and give thanks for all we’ve been blessed with. Some times during “The Holidays” I can find myself in a real funk. Brought on by the fakeness of all. The hustle and bustle.

You can only have shoddy stores and push sales people for so long. I was in a Circuit City several months back, and vowed never to go again. Best Buy seems to have the better store layout, and mostly great sales people on the floor.

Circuit City was the electronics store in the area I live in for quite some time. They just seemed to go down hill rather quickly starting about ten years ago.

There is mention in the article of not being able to receive goods in time for black Friday if they do not get relief. I wonder how big black Friday will be this year anyways?
